The Totally Redesigned Engine
More Power. More Performance.
This 5.0 liter V8 engine isn't the same as the old. Starting from scratch, Ford engineers designed an all new 5.0 liter engine solely for the 2011 GT. With the competition of muscle car rivals like the Camaro in mind, Ford engineers built this machine to crank out over 400 horsepower and 390 ft. -lb. of torque at your command. Aside from the power side of this engine, Ford engineers also accomplished fuel efficiency and a more drivable torque curve. By adding variable cam timing on both the intake and exhaust valves, there is a 5 percent improvement on the low-end torque, a 2 percent improvement in peak torque, and a 7 percent improvement in power. Expected to achieve 17 mpg city, and 25 mpg highway, this engine gives you more than just power.
The engine isn't the only thing new on the 2011 Mustang GT. Ford added more than just power to America's favorite muscle car with their Electronic Power Steering System. The new mustang also offers an optional 14-inch Brembo brake package, which combos with a set of 19-inch wheels.
